It is known as hitting the act and the result of hitting or running over. This verb, for its part, refers to pushing or hitting someone or something; act without respect; or take action in a hasty and irresponsible manner.
For example: “Investigators are looking for witnesses to the hitting of a child on Central Avenue”, “The government’s decision to fire some journalists from the state media is an outrage against freedom of expression”, “This is a run over! They cannot penalize me for not paying an invoice that they never sent me… ”.
According to DigoPaul, run over can be used to name the event that occurs when a vehicle hits a pedestrian (that is, when it runs over). If a motorist driving at a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour crosses a red light and attacks a woman who was trying to cross the street, the passerby is the victim of being hit.
It is important to note that in everyday speech and even in the press it is not so common to use the term outrage to refer to such situations, but we opted for a car accident, providing more information below to explain that it is the damage that a person or an animal suffered as a result of being hit by a car, or that they died for that reason.
On the other hand, the verb of this family of words, that is to say run over, is used in some Spanish-speaking countries to describe the action carried out by the driver, whether intentionally or not: «We are at the scene of a terrible car accident that has caused the death of two people: the owner of the car was intoxicated and ran them over at a crossroads, so they did not have enough time to react and pull over.
The notion is often used when a person or an institution acts without respecting the laws, regulations or even the norms of social coexistence. Suppose a government decides that all citizens are obliged to prove their identity if a police officer so requires, indicating that if they do not do so, they will be arrested. Many lawyers qualify the measure as an outrage against individual freedom, holding that no one has the obligation to prove who they are just by being in a public space and remembering that all people are innocent of any crime until a judicial process proves otherwise.
The violation of the rights of citizens is a recurring theme in many countries, although it is an unfailingly subject to the time and the various factors that make up culture, so it is not easy to study or resolve.
Another meaning of this term that is often used frequently defines it as the deprivation of the word to a third party, so that they cannot express their point of view or justify their actions. If we think about the magnitude of the impact of a motorized vehicle against a person, it is easy for us to understand that it can not only cause great damage but also leave them unconscious and limit their mobility; symbolic abuse is not very different, since someone uses power so that another individual cannot act freely.
In the tango entitled « Cambalache «, written and composed by Enrique Santo Discépolo in 1934, this term appears in the following passage: «What lack of respect, what an outrage to reason !». It is a very famous song, which has been recorded by many Latin American artists, among which are Julio Sosa, Libertad Lamarque, Alfredo Sadel (opera singer), Caetano Veloso, Tita Merello, Joan Manuel Serrat, Nacha Guevara, León Gieco, Raphael and Liuba María Hevia.
